History
Established in 1963, Leo Van De Yacht Well Drilling, Inc. has grown from a
one rig local residential water well drilling company to a multi-rig
statewide residential, commercial, agricultural and specialty drilling
service, covering projects from elevator shaft drilling to bridge
piling work.
Looking to take advantage of the advances in technology and engineering
being developed for drilling rigs, the company expanded from an
antiquated cable tool rig to a revolutionary, yet unproven, rotary style
rig in 1967. That change alone moved the business from the ability to
drill two feet per hour up to 100 feet per hour. Risk does have its
rewards, as Leo was able to build the business from completing 50 wells
in 1963, to over 500 residential water wells per year.
While Leo has since retired from the business, the company
is still supported through a strong family network with son Troy taking ownership
and responsibility for the drilling and rig operations. Son Eric co-owns the pump
company with Troy and is responsible for all pump installations and service.
Leo's wife Mary has also semi-retired from her role of handling the company books,
billing, reception and general business support functions. Troy's wife Traci has
since taken over many of these duties related to keeping the business running
smoothly day to day.
Pride in family, ownership and commitment have been the cornerstones upon
which Leo Van De Yacht Well Drilling, Inc. was founded. Those traits continue
today as the second generation begins positioning the company for future
growth and diversity in drilling.
